Saudi Arabia welcomes Yemeni president decision to transfer power

Saudi Arabia welcomes the Yemeni president’s decision to transfer his powers to a new presidential council, and urges the council to start negotiations with the Iran-backed Houthi militia, state television and the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Kingdom will support Yemen’s economy with $3 billion, and will provide $300 million to a UN humanitarian aid plan, the report and SPA added.

Saudi Arabia has also called for an international conference to support Yemen’s economy, central bank, and oil derivatives, SPA reported.
